HOOPDREAMZ Enterprises Pty Ltd is a dynamic events management company that was established in 1999 and incorporated in 2006.
In ten years, HOOPDREAMZ has built a significant influence in the Australian urban and basketball scene. HOOPDREAMZ has had a fundamental role in pioneering the hip-hop dance movement in Australia.
The most popular basketball franchise in Australia, the Sydney Kings, provided HOOPDREAMZ an opportunity to brand their name to the sporting public. In 2000-2001, HOOPDREAMZ published its very own basketball newsletter and distributed it at Sydney Kings home games. During their three year championship reign, the Kings built a strong relationship with HOOPDREAMZ. By January 2005, HOOPDREAMZ started its first Filipino Night, a pregame event that attracted thousands of people to the Sydney Entertainment Centre. The HOOPDREAMZ themed events continued to be a part and parcel of the Sydney Kings’ entertainment program until the club disbanded in 2008. HOOPDREAMZ provided similar themed events for the Melbourne Tigers, Perth Wildcats, Adelaide 36ers and Brisbane Bullets.
The association with the Sydney Kings opened up many doors, including the establishment of an international sports touring division in 2005. Since then, HOOPDREAMZ has organized tours for international basketball clubs. The most recent tour in April 2009 involved an international goodwill two-game basketball series between the Australian-Motolite Sharks selection and the RP-Powerade National FIBA-Asia Team, broadcast nationally to 90 million people.
In 2002, HOOPDREAMZ gave birth to the first-ever urban dance competition, GROOVE. The exciting event featured raw talent from the underground hip-hop dance schools and communities in Sydney. Soon, Melbourne followed in 2003. By 2004, an elite dance event called BATTLEGROUNDS, a State-vs-State battle ensued between NSW and Victoria. Its popularity became an international phenomenon and transformed the event in its current form, the World Supremacy BATTLEGROUNDS. GROOVE has spread across six Australian States, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and The Philippines. Twelve new countries are earmarked for GROOVE expansion in 2010.
In the same year that GROOVE was born, HOOPDREAMZ ventured into individual concert tours, starting with Philippine popstar Tootsie Guevarra. In 2004, HOOPDREAMZ collaborated with Supreme Entertainment to bring in American-Chinese rap star Jin Tha MC. In 2006, the arrival of American comic Rex Navarrete, World Hip-Hop Champions ALLSTARS, Acoustic King Paolo Santos and legendary rock band Juan dela Cruz proved to be a major hit for HOOPDREAMZ.
2009 looms to be a massive year for HOOPDREAMZ, with its first major international tour of BLACKSTREET, featuring the King of New Jack Swing Teddy Riley. The new year will elevate HOOPDREAMZ into a bigger touring company as it casts its eye on Australasia.
